How to remove beard dandruff?

How to remove beard dandruff?

Imagine, sitting in the barber’s shop, having a clean hair cut and suddenly the barber shifts his attention to your neglected beard (لحية). A rough and tangled affair! Man, was I embarrassed? Don’t even ask! But, the barber was not. He proceeded further and I braced myself as he started untangling the beard.

Phwoar - It-was-painful! After shaping, cutting and applying the final touches he showed me all the dandruff that left the skin underneath. My clothes had flakes of dandruff all across them. It was embarrassing and awkward. I wanted to leave as soon as possible.

Trust me, I tried everything. I tried Argon Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter and Almond Oil - all of which have their benefits, there’s no doubt! Specifically for Olive Oil; we know Nabi () applied olive oil rigorously.

In his book on Prophetic Medicine, Ibn Al-Qayyim encourages the use of olives and their oil. Nabi () said, ‘Eat the oil (of olives) and use it on your hair and skin, for it comes from a blessed tree’. (Tirmidhi)

Olive Oil has its significance both by the Glorious Qu'ran and the Hadith. If I pull out an example from my routine; applying it in my hair and beard every Jummah is a practice that is beyond rewarding.

My method is different - and assures dandruff free and a soft tangle free beard every time - perfect thereafter to apply the Sunnah of Olive Oil. My beard is always smooth, soft and I can form any shape or angle I wish. Now my friends and family asks me about the secret behind it.

The beard needs to be part and parcel of your grooming routine. The beard needs that TLC brother. Find the following guide on how to ANNIHILATE beard dandruff. You can also watch my video 🍿 "How to ANNIHILATE beard dandruff" on YouTube on my channel or read the below.

Have you ever wondered what causes the dandruff? There is a science behind it. Living in the UAE and between the UK has an effect. Sitting in a hot room and then going to an AC powered car and then between Malls and office also has an effect. Leaving your beard wet too often and not taking care of it with Olive Oil and grooming creams also has an effect. A settled routine and consistency will ensure top results. The best part - its sooooo easy!

Do this 2-3 times a week - you will get rid of dandruff in-shaa-Allah.

I would like to specially mention my friend, Abdul Majid who runs a highly successful gel number plate company. Actually, I reached out to him over WhatsApp one late evening and we went talking into the beard stuff and dandruff issues. He taught me this method and introduced me to T-Gel. Brothers, it has a lovely smokey/coal like smell at the end; very charcoal like. Not to empowering - just the right edge.

Step 1 - T-Gel and Towel

⚔️ These are the first two items that you need in your arsenal!

  1. T-Gel (Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo) - save and buy it here.
  2. Face Towel Set - save and buy it here.

Step 2a - Wash beard (in shower)

When you do the routine in a shower, first complete your Ghusl. Meaning do your normal routine; wash arms, legs, face, hair etc. Once you're ready to leave the shower then skip to Step 3 and make sure your beard is wet. An advantage of doing it in the shower is you can actually use your fingers to remove dandruff flakes and then start fresh.

Step 2b - Wash beard (over counter)

Wet your beard thoroughly with warm water or cold water. Make sure the skin underneath is wet too.

Step 3 - Mix small amount in hands

You need about a 50p coin / 2 AED Dirham coin size in your hand like in the picture below.

Step 4 - Lather into beard

Generously apply it to the roots of your beard hair and under your chin and neck - generously!

Step 5 - Rinse thoroughly & gently

Rinse with cold or warm water.

Step 6 - Use your towel

Use your towel to dry the full beard and the skin underneath. Then use a hairdryer and a comb.

Ta-da! You are done!

Thank me later.

Leave your comments please. I will be eager to know if you bought and tried this. You will have a scent on the beard which is like charcoal/slightly cool burned aroma. It's warm. I hope you enjoy the routine. Give it a go if you are still twiddling your thumbs - it's less than £25/125 AED for the towel and T-Gel. You only need to do this 2 or 3 times per week.
